The Department for Architectural History, Building Archaeology and Heritage Conservation of the Technical University of Munich invites you to participate in a conference on ‘wooden constructions of classical antiquity’ from March 30 to April 1, 2007. The purpose of the conference is to give a critical survey of our knowledge of ancient greek and roman wooden constructions, with a special focus on roofs and their technical details. The main topics of the conference will be: · Early constructions of the Geometric and early Archaic period · The great Greek and Roman temples · Smaller roofs on houses and stoai · Theaters and meeting halls · Round buildings · Stone and mixed constructions · Tradition of ancient constructions in the early Christian and Islamic periods You can participate in the conference by submitting an abstract for a paper presentation before 30.08.2006 to Lehrstuhl für Baugeschichte und Bauforschung Dr.-Ing.
