Brainstorming meeting of the starting committee in Berlin

We will meet in Berlin to discuss the next steps for the EAHN.

The meeting is open only to all members of the temporary association - if you're not already a member but want to join, please contact one of the committee members.

The participants will stay at the "Hotel Unter den Linden" in the eastern center of Berlin.

If you want to take part: The participants will stay at the "Hotel Unter den Linden" in the very center of the city.

The meeting room shall be the Museum für Kommunikation, Leipziger Strasse 16.

Here is the up-dated program suggested by Christine (with minor changings of the time on Saturday by Bernd):

Friday, January 13rd 2006
8 p.m.: Informal dinner at the Restaurant of the Hotel Unter den Linden (Unter den Linden 14, tel. (49-30/ 238-11 0)

Saturday, January 14th 2006
[optional:] 8.30 or 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. ca.: Breakfast together at the Hotel

11 a.m.: Morning meeting of all participants at the conference room of the Museum für Kommunikation, Leipziger Strasse 16, D- 10117 Berlin-Mitte)
1. Organization of EAHN:
    -         EAHN aims (Belgin, Alona)
    -         EAHN functioning and future by-laws (Christine, Alona)
    -         relationships with research institutions (Alona)
    -         relationships with scholars (Carmen)
    -         invitation for membership (Alice)
    -         linguistic aspects (Rob)
    -         functioning of the Temporary association (Christine)

2 p.m.: lunch in a nearby restaurant (Note: The Museum has a Cafeteria offering hot dishes for Lunch. - Bernd)

3 p.m.: Afternoon meeting of all participants at the conference room of the Museum für Kommunikation, Leipziger Strasse 16, D- 10117 Berlin-Mitte)

    -         EAHN’s brown-bag lunch at SAH Annual meeting in Savannah, April 2006 (Dietrich)

Sunday, January 15th 2006

10 a.m.: Departure from the hotel, walk along Unter den Linden, including photography of teh group in front of the Palast der Republik (to be demolished the next day) / other important buildings:
    - Unversity, Opera, Neue Wache, Catholic Cathedral, Staatsratsgebäude (GDR), Palast der Republik, Lustgarten with Cathedral and Altes Museum
11:00 a.m.: Visit of the construction site of the "Neues Museum" under the guidance of Ms Schad, from Chipperfield Architects (strong shoes recommended). Meeting place: Gate 4 of the construction site, Bodestr. 1-3
- Alexanderplatz and/or new reconstructed center (around Hackesche Höfe)
- Karl-Marx-Allee (former Stalinallee)

1.30 p.m. (?) Lunch, for instance in "Zur letzten Instanz" (Berlin's oldest restaurant)

Afternoon:

3:30 p.m.: meeting at the Hotel Unter den Linden to discuss minutes of the Saturday meeting
